Volunteer Message Center, Text Messaging, and more!

Based on our customers’ and their volunteers’ feedback, we regularly make improvements to ivolunteer. Here are a few recent and upcoming updates.

Volunteer Message Center

ivolunteer recently rolled out a new communications feature: a volunteer message center in My Commitments. When logged into their portal, your participants can now click on Messages to see their sign up confirmations, reminders, and other notifications.

If you are a volunteer with more than one organization, you will see all of your messages in one place, based on your signed-in email address.

Text Messaging for Premium Accounts

In their My Commitments portal, volunteers can now opt in to text notifications.* The text will include a link taking them to the notification in their message center.

To opt in, go to Settings, enter the texting phone number, and toggle the opt in. You’ll then see additional options for the types, time window, and frequency of texts. When you opt in, text messages will be enabled from any organization with a Premium account.

*Currently, as of 11/4/25, only U.S. phone numbers can be opted in to receive texts.

Coming Soon: ivolunteer.com API

By popular demand, we also will be launching an API by the end of 2025. The ivolunteer.com API will make it easy for you to sync your participant data with other applications.
