It’s been a while since CFO* Charley offered volunteer scheduling and management tips. Truth is, she’s been busy romping around the office with her new co-CFO, Frankie, while developers Tad and Paul work on new ivolunteer features. National Pet Day seems like a good day to catch everybody up on new and upcoming features in ivolunteer!
Charley and Frankie are pretty excited about this week’s updates, which include improvements to volunteer payments.
Manage Payments from Volunteers, Registrants, and Other Participants
Did you know Premium accounts have the ability to take Stripe and PayPal payments from your participants on sign up? From donations to deposits to registration fees, you can collect fixed or conditional amounts. A conditional amount can be based on the value of another prompt, like a dropdown list of class types.
This week’s improvements include mobile interface support for payment signups, optional refunds on self-cancellation, and the ability for admins to refund volunteers from the Manage tab or later from a link in a signup Event’s Activity Log.
New Layout Option: Freeze Row Headers on Sign Up Sheet
ivolunteer has always had the ability to repeat column headers on long signup sheets. However, layout is also an issue if you have more columns than fit in the visible desktop window. Volunteers then may lose sight of row labels with important information such as slot times or roles.
Now, you can freeze slot row headers to ensure they remain visible even when you scroll horizontally. This setting and other advanced options are available at the bottom of the Layout tab under Event Details & Actions.
Upcoming Improvements to ivolunteer.com
Paul and Tad are still at it. Later this year, we’ll be rolling out the two features most often requested by volunteer managers: texting and an API. Soon you’ll be able to:
- text signup reminders to participants who opt in to texts
- utilize our API to connect your ivolunteer database with other applications
Happy spring volunteering! Next time, Charley and Frankie will do a deep romp into email communication and how it works in ivolunteer.
